Scaccia, and Secretary of State William Galvin are pleased to announce that the Captain Forbes House in Milton has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Massachusetts Preservation Project Fund.
The Captain Robert Bennet Forbes House opened as a museum in 1965; in 1966, it was registered as a National Historic Landmark. The museum focuses on the Forbes family history as well as the American-Chinese trade of the mid-1800's.
The Forbes House offers tours, lectures, programs, special exhibitions, and events. It presents a unique educational experience to everyone from kindergarten children to history scholars.
The Massachusetts Preservation Projects Fund (MPPF) is a state-funded 50% reimbursable matching grant program. The Fund was established in 1984 to support the preservation of properties, landscapes, and sites (cultural resources) listed in the State Register of Historic Places. |
